System Requirements for RVCE Updates Mini

Do you have what it takes to run our Windows App ? Find out from this pre-release statement from our developer, who has insisted on publishing a detailed statement for future users.

RVCE Updates Mini ( Dekstop App for Windows PC ) – by Developer

I am pleased to inform you that we have entered the final stages of testing the Android and Desktop Apps and to be honest, I am very nervous as the release date approaches as expectations are sky -high at the moment ! However, I assure you that your feedback for the applications through this platform will always be taken seriously.

I will be looking forward to interacting with users and learning about their experience in the future. I thank RVCE Updates for giving me this opportunity to help them reach out to as many students as possible.

The following are the system requirements for RVCE Updates Mini, the Desktop App which I hope students find convenient.

OS : Windows XP SP2
.NET Framework Version 3.5 or 3.5 SP1
Disk Space :
Installation File : 17 MB

RVCE Updates Mini : 40 MB

An internet connection for your Windows device
( I know I will face a lot of flak for the hard disk space requirement. However, we have Microsoft to blame for not providing a browser as fast as the others. So we decided to integrate WebKit, one of the most powerful rendering engines for the Desktop App. ) The purpose of this app is to reduce clicks and types and at the same time increase hits. More than 35 MB is taken up by the integrated browser itself. So this app would have been 5MB had Microsoft given us a better browser. My sympathies are with the app developers who have had to redesign their apps because of this over the last few quarters .

OS : Win XP SP3 or higher
The latest .NET Framework (latest was released on 15th August, 2012, version 4.5)
An internet connection on your Windows device

SPECIAL NOTE FOR XP / VISTA USERS : Stock XP / Vista systems come with .NET  2.0 / 3.0 installe and the app will not run.  Scroll down to know how to obtain .NET Framework 3.5 the easy way.

All versions of Windows 7 have .NET Framework 3.5 installed, so that shouldn’t be a problem. With the increasing number of .NET Applications targeting the Windows platform, it is always a good choice to keep your computer updated with the latest Framework. To find out which .NET Framework you have, follow the instructions below :

Go to Start—–>Control Panel——>Add or Remove Programs
(For Vista / Win 7 users : Go to “Uninstall a Program” in the Panel view or follow the above if your Control Panel is set to Classic View)

In the window that appears, unser “Currently Installed Programs” , browse through the list and check which .NET Framework has been installed. If it is 3.5 or higher, you are good to go.

Head over to http://ninite.com/.net/ which offers you to install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. The installation is plain simple : download the file, the executable runs everything for you. No Next, Next, Next…Finish, thus will save on your time.

Beware that Microsoft’s website also offers you the same downloads, however for most deficient systems , the official Microsoft Downloads have not been so trustworthy. Ninite’s download for older Desktops is the best one I could find.

PRIVACY & SECURITY : The Windows app has been made such that it does not collect any browsing information, nor does the in-built browser track your browsing activity. It does not contain any piece of code with malicious intent, since I as a developer have some very serious responsibilities towards clients. Although the apps are free for use, I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND that the apps be downloaded from www.rvceupdates.com and not be given around as users or third parties with malicious intent can always tamper with their copy.

For more information, please read the End User License Agreement ( EULA) which will be published on release.

It has been noted during testing that some Antivirus software like Norton Internet Security and Avast may try to interrupt both download and installation. They also prompt to run the app in a sandbox. The ant-virus software may block internet access to the application, rendering the application useless and the download, and I recommend that for optimal functioning, run it as a normal application.

Since most computers are not protected with Corporate / Home editions of Anti-Virus software on our test systems, we may have not encountered an unknown problem yet. I will welcome your feedback regarding this.
